|There are really two Mid-City Lanes in question, i.e., the old location and the new. I bowled many games at the old upstairs establishment as did my father back in the 40s and 50s. This is really a music club, not a place for serious bowlers. The old alley had a great vintage vibe, but the heads looked like someone did target practice on them. The equipment tore up your ball, and they oiled the lanes ONCE a week with a giant oily rag on the end of a push broom! (Not kidding, I saw them do it.) The new club has better equipment, but I would only go there to listen to music not bowl.|

|Me and a couple of friends decided to go to this one since AMF and colonial both had leagues going on. The place was a nightmare! The pictures on the website must be back from 1978 or something because everything in it looked outdated. It looked like it was mostly 6-8 y/o kids bowling there. Overall, it looked like a place I will not be coming back to.|

|From the website, Scary
Dont refer to the promotions as "Rock N Bowl."
Actually, Blancher doesnt ask for that courtesy. He demands it. The demand also goes for any derivative or , including "rock and bowl," etc. Proprietors who ignore John Blanchers admonition could find themselves in federal court, just as Don Carters All-Star Lanes and Wolfram Video did.

|Y'know, I was ready to make Rock 'n Bowl one of the "must see" places on my itinerary (I'm making my first visit to New Orleans), but I just went to the website and I gotta say the whole hardass attitude on an entire webpage devoted to their trademark on the name "Rock 'n Bowl" just really turned me off. That and the menu has things like fries and other sides listed as "lagniappe". I'm not even from here, and even I know that lagniappe doesn't just mean "extras", which is how it's being used here. It means something extra given for free, out of generosity, and I doubt Mid-City Lanes is giving that stuff away.
I thought the whole idea was cool, and I've heard that the music is great, but I just don't think it's someplace I want to support.|
