|I really liked bowling at this bowling alley; however, many of the employees are extremely rude! There are also several employees who are very polite and do a nice job. Their snack bar is great - but healthier options would be fantastic!
Additionally, I have to agree with other people's comments on the PA system. When you are bowling, you just can't hear what is being said through the speakers. If they have music playing - it's even worse. There should be a standard policy that if people don't respond to your announcement, the employee should walk over to the lane and speak to them directly. Either that - or turn off the music while making announcements, or get a better PA system.
All in all, the bowling alley is not that bad. It's obvious that many of them try to do a good job.

|I wouldn't go in that place, some people who I know and hate bowl there, that is enough reason for me. Most places in Helena, in fact blow a**!!!!!|

|My family went bowling this weekend...I'm hard of hearing and midway through our game the staff person announced (over the quiet PA system)
that if my lane and the nearby lanes wanted to continue bowling we had to go up to the front desk and let him know. I didn't/couldn't hear this as it was announced on a very quiet overhead PA system and we were bowling right in front of the booming ACDC-spewing speaker system. Heaven forbid that this person actually come over to the lanes and tell people in person.
I didn't hear the announcement. My wife and I got to wondering why a group of people was mingling around out table like they owned it, went up to the front desk and was told that since I didn't come up and re-up my lane my family couldn't play another game. Totally shot our plans for a nice sunday with the kids down.
Talk about unfriendly. We won't go here again.|

|Having state bowling in Helena with one house is going to be a mess.I think the whole event should be boycotted and nobody attend.|

|Sleeping Giant Lanes is now the only bowling alley in Helena. As such it gets very busy when tournaments are being held and then open bowling gets limited. There is a lot of open bowling in the summer. There is an awesome junior bowling program with opportunities several days a week and a bowling camp during the summer. There are a lot of adult league opportunities even during the summer. I have never had any problems there. The staff have always been helpful.|

|I work in a center, centers say they have no open lanes because by the time you would get there the lanes would be taken. And most the time that happens. I have told people over the phone that we have 3 lanes currently open and when they get there they are full.. And We (Employees of center) Get reamed on it..|

|I worked at SGL when i was i high school in the mid-nineties. Donna has to realize that open bowling is crucial for business. That doesn't mean employees let them have the run of the place. If you have a problem with open bowlers not respecting common courtesies, you should probably practice at less peak times. Weekday mornings/afternoons are the best. Weekends are usually not a good time to practice. Saturday morning has Youth League, afternoons is when b-day parties are held, and saturday night is vegas bowling or jackpot. Sunday morning has more parties in the afternoon and leagues at night. Even though SGL is now the only house in town, you could still find a slow time during the week. I would ask an employee about the peak open bowling hours. Lastly, even though you pay your league dues,(which if i am correct still entitles you to free games or discounted games)open bowlers actually pay for the lines they roll. If there wasn't open bowlers the house would be empty about 60 percent of the time. |

|I wonder if Donna is even from Montana. Doesn't sound like it to me. Either way she needs to have the corn cob removed and lighten up. Remember, it's NEVER a;; about YOU.|

|Unfortunatly Donna, no matter where you go, someone is gonna walk up on you. That just how open play is, even if it is posted they will still do it. And unfortunately the staff can only do so much to help the problem|

|yea donna dont lose your breath. If you dont like people walking up on you, wait for them to bowl first. Not rocket science!|

|Sounds like Donna got up on the wrong side of bed... nobody cares about rules in open play.. If you think thats bad try bowling open play in Vancouver B.C. where there is no courtesy... and its allways packed|

|I love this bowling alley. It is an awsome atmosphere and is family oreintated. They have many chances for open bowling and leage. Its a great all around area to be, most people are friendly and courtious. Others, like Donna, find that everything should be professional, for them. SO unlike her opinion I have not found anything wrong with Sleeping Giant Lanes. great food, fun, and bowling at sleeping giant lanes!|

|I like to bowl and practice in Helena, MTT....in the only bowling alley we have here now. However, the bowling and courtesy rules are not posted, nor enforced by the staff. Every time I practice I have to tell people not to get up on the adjacent lanes, nor stay on the adjacent lane, when I get up to bowl. Tthe staff are standing there watching right behind me and act beligerant when I mention anything. I also have to ask people not to be right behind me, talking loud, and training someone else in another lane (this was a staff member and her friend). This is absolutely rude, arrogant, and unprofessional as bowlers, along with staff personnel being uncourteous.....whether it is open bowling or not. I am tired of being considerd the b*tch/bad person if I say something, that staff personnel are not adhering to bowling rules/courtesies ignoring them totally), and any professionalism. I have been injured by these individuals and staff present have done nothing to assist/inform/tell/etc.
Why does the staff not know any bowling rules/courtesies? Why are these rules/courtesies not posted for all to see??? Why do I as a regular bowler have to be the person to tell others who are disrespectful of others??? Why is the staff not informing any open bowlers of the rules/courtesies??
If this was not the only bowling alley in town I would be bowling elsewhere. I will continue to write everyone I know informing everyone of this unprofessionalism, disrespect, and/or discourtesy this bowling alley presents itself; along with how unsafe it is to bowl there. Others have had the same problems, but I am the only one that has said anything....so I will stop doing open bowling there and practice elsewhere with my money and friends (bringing our business out of town) and this is not the only problem observed/noticed/dealt with at this bowling alley. |
