Palos Lanes is a great place to bowl. Always professional, always in perfect working order. Leagues are strong. Open bowling times vary but priced fairly. Snack shop is kinda new with a good menu but has limited hours. Website-www.paloslanes.net is up to date and has coupons for open bowling, plus the usual weekly specials.

I was there on Saturday bowling with a couple of friends and to our surprise... Karaoke! We stayed and had a great time. Nice addition Palos Lanes.

Went here for the all you can bowl for $10 from 9:30 till 12. The place is very old (wood panels everywhere/old wooden chairs) and was very dark & quiet when I was there. Smelled like an ashtray inside even though smoking isn't allowed. The only thing older than the bowling alley are the people (owners?) working there and they are very impolite/rude from my experience. Lanes were average. The place only had about 10 customers total in the entire building at 10PM and after going there I can tell why. Easily the worst bowling alley in the area for open bowling. Maybe their leagues are fun? The only pro is that they should always have lanes open. Tinley Bowl on 183rd & Harlem is 10x better and the staff is very friendly there. Plus, it's cheaper and everything is updated. Leagues were ending when I got there & it didn't look like many people are in leagues there. I predict they won't be around much longer. They are lucky that they are a good distance from the bowling lanes in Orland Park & Tinley because I'm sure that most all of their business is from people trying to save gas $ and miles on their cars!

Palos Lanes is a bowling alley, pure and simple. It's a family run business that's been in business for years upon years. It's one of the few bowling alleys left where you can actually see the lanes and watch people bowl from sitting at the bar. My guess that most of the complaints about Palos Lanes are from some real amateurs, and probably less than that. If you treat the owners, employees, the establishment, and it's equipment with respect, you'll get respect in return. It's no different than eating at a restaurant or seeing a movie at the theaters. If you're looking for a place to hang out, goof around, act immature, so on and so forth, this is clearly not the place for you. Pack your stuff up and head over to score-land. This is the type of bowling alley that, up until a few years ago, never had bumpers installed. I assume that you'll never see any form of cosmic bowling here, at least while the old man is alive. Palos has done a lot to keep up with the rapidly progressing world of bowling. Their seasonal leagues are some of the finest in the south suburbs, comprised of some very good bowlers. They've implemented open bowling specials, added the sport shot and the heavy pin challenge and host weekly tournaments. As far as the pro shop goes, Craig is the best in the southland area. Whoever has a complaint about him or his services, clearly should not be bowling. Please go sell your bowling equipment on craigslist or ebay and pick up another sport. While you're at it, buy a skirt and start calling yourself Nancy. He keeps updated paperwork on all his customers and is willing to take the time to fine-tune a ball to your specifications, provided you take the time to listen and work with him. See you on the lanes P.S. I'll be the one kicking your a** and taking your money.

The Lanes can be very dry I like bowling there but I wouldn't make it my only bowling spot I go to Brunswick in oaklawn just to change the environment and lane conditions, they always seem to have an open Lane no matter how crowded they look

Awesome place- I am going back again tonight at 9:30pm. Mondays and Wednesdays is all you can bowl for $10 after 9:30 to midnight. Great value! See you there.

I have just read a few other posts on this page and DONT agree with some of them. Palos Lanes is a clean facility with fair prices when compared to others. Service was great, they also have some weekly specials! Drink prices are great. My experience was great and will certainly return. Lanes and machines are in perfect working condition - no problems(like some other places)

Do not go here! I have been going here with my friends for a long time and the employees are always rude. One day they charged us $15 and as we're about to pay the guy asks us if we're high school students or college students, we thought he was just making conversation so we said college and then he charged us extra. It was apparent that he was just pocketing money because, if anything he should be charging college students less. What would happen if we said we were high school dropouts? All I can say to this employee is have fun super-sizing it for your wife and kids!

I am sorry to see that we don't have any input from the many satisfied bowlers at Palos. I bowled there for years, am a minority, and never experienced a bad moment. I really miss the place, the good friends and good times I enjoyed there. If you don't like the place, don't go there. Palos will survive without your business. Seems like the great majority of you should be brushing upon your spelling and grammar. Regards to all the fine people that work at Palos.

Actually the pro shop is bad. The owners work are called craig's specials at other pro shops. When people who get a ball from there go to another pro shop to have their ball looked at. He messed up my ball so bad. He had the angle of my thumb under the fingers. My ring finger hole was too far out. The wholes weren't even in the right place. He just had really bad service.

Dave McHarty is correct. My family has been bowling at Palos Lanes for 3 generations. My grand parents, all my uncles and my parents have all bowled at Palos Lanes. The owners have never been great with customer service. All they want is your money. One time I was offered a free game from the owners and I have yet to see that game after 10 years. However, the lanes are challenging and overall a good place to bowl. Recently, they have made the bowling alley more appealing to children by putting in bumpers which they didn't have for years. Sorry no cosmic bowling and you will never see it there. The Pro Shop is also a great place with a very knowledgeable owner. Good Luck to everyone with their bowling careers!!!

you people are tools who call them Bowling Centers rather than Bowling Alleys.....come one when did bowling become a sport for d***bags?

Comment Date: 3/16/2008 Name: Sarah
I do agree with Dave McHarthy. People should take his review more seriously. I know I did not and I now regret it. Palos Lanes is a family owned place and you kind of feel the discrimination from the moment you walk through the door. If you are not white with blond hair and blue eyes you will feel a different vibe from these people they call customer service. Let me tell you about the owner or the ownersí son, he is very mean, greedy and ignorant. he thinks by him owning this bowling alley he owns you. A control freak who is so ignorant and have ZERO communication skills. It was the worst bowling experience ever and I would never go back there. I donít recommend it to any one.

When we walked into the bowling alley, we just got Mcdonalds and we just walked in,and me and my friend Abby put the food down on the counter, and my mom went to the bathroom. Then one of the employees came up to us and yelled very roudly"Who does this food belong to!Hey you kid,did you see the sign that said NO FOOD OR DRINKS ALOUD!"and I said "No" then my mom came up and the employee said to my mom "Is this your food, you either need to go in the lounge or in your car."and we thought it was very mean of him to say that to children!

i love palos lanes i go there all the time and i perfer palos lanes to orland bowl because that bowling place is too loud all the time with all the music and people yelling and everytime i go there the spot right infront of the lane is never smooth enought for me to slide and so my foot sticks there and it messes up my whole shot i dont like it at all so im sticking to palos lanes

Comment Date: 4/28/2007 Name: Mike Smith
By the way, who cares if there is not much oil after the league, it is called adjusting to the shot.

Palos Lanes is one of the best places that I have bowled at, in my 40 years of bowling. I Don't come often, but when I do, I always feel welcomed to the nice environment, rarely found in a bowling alley. The owner and his son are always improving the alley and charge the least amount they can. It is much better than any of the other place in the chicago vacinity. For example, Orland bowl charges over $4.00 a game at night while Palos is Definitly under that by nearly HALF! I would extremely recommend this place for people to start there bowling adventure.

Comment Date: 4/21/2007 Name: Dave McHarthy
This place needs to improve on customer service skills. The owner and son are very snobbish and stock up and all they want is your money. Been going there for years and never got a hello or a smile or a thank you from them. That goes for all his employees in-charge of the front counter. Needs improvement in customer service. I have stopped going to this place a year and a half ago and made a return on 4-20-07 and have experienced the same poor qualities of this place. This place is not worth your time or money. Bowlers should feel happy when they walk in and out of a bowling center. Not aggravated or disgusted when treated like garbage when itís time to pay. Not everybody is a criminal Palos Lanes. Maybe itís time you go pre-paid or just retire already owner. Go to Orland Bowl, $6 cover charge and 25 cents a game Monday nights and Sunday nights at 9:30. Why give Palos the money $3.25 per game or any of these other bowling alley that rob the money out of you. Orland has plenty of oil left after the leagues get out unlike Palos Lanes. Also go to Bowlbrunswick.com and sign up for the bowling specials for 10 games for 99 cents a game or bowl for free for one hour. You will get one of these offers every 4 to 6 weeks through E-mail and these coupons are good at any Brunswick Zone (Oak Lawn) or Brunswick Zone XL. Hope this help all upset customers that have stopped going to Palos Lanes and hopefully this will be a wake up call for the Snobbish owner and son. Also, this place is cheap on the A/C in the summer and has poor air quality. Smoky. Go to Orland or Brunswick. Itís like a Ice Box!

when we went to bowl i had little children and one section was filled with smokers. i nicely asked if we could move to a lane were no smokers were and it was empty and they refused so i left.

I love coming here to bowl with my friends...but its not open very late on weeknights so its hard for us tog et a lot of games in

Nice shot for all leauge bowlers. It need to have some sort of fans to move all the smoke around. And great prices for shots of brandy, and all booze. It is always warm. Very clean bathrooms.

This house is very spacious the lanes are fair and its very clean. The only negative thing is no ceiling fan. the air is very stagnant and its uncomfortable. Besides that it seems like a good place to bowl.

Palos Lanes is a great place for the serious casual bowler. The owner takes pride with everything in the center. Recently the scoring system was upgraded with Brunswick Framworks Scoring. LCD touch monitors along with new overheads were installed. All ball returns were upgraded and new colorful masking units were installed that really enhance the bowling facility. The wooden lanes are well maintained along with a lane shield, a very thin piece of plastic on the lane which offers better ball reaction on wood lanes and extends the life of wood lanes. Pin Action is great, along with the Brunswick A-2 Machines that are quick to keep the game moving. Customer service is O.K. Can use some improvement. A better system needs to be used for open bowlers when closing. To many times the pinsetters have been turned off when shots in the tenth frame have not been completed. Makes the bowler feel like he or she is being rushed. Better ventilation is needed for the smoking and fans need to be installed to circulate the stale humid smoky air. Can be very hot in the summer time. Kind of stingy with the a/c. Overall this a good center for the casual serious bowler.

This bowling alley used to be great but now it's never open.
