First time bowling here in maybe 2 years. Good news is they updated the scoring to fairly new Qubicas. And all newer digital style screens. That was a welcome and much needed change. And though the pins are extremely old and worn out (lane 8 drops pins like every other frame), the pin action is still pretty good. They had a 2 hour special for 12.50, WOW!! I managed to get in 13 games within 1 1/2 hrs so I def got more than my moneys worth!!! Highly satisfied with today's visit and glad to see the improvement.

First time to Hamilton today. Awesome experience. Classic wood in the backend with synthetic heads. A real throwback bowling alley that gave me a break on lineage since I'm a PBA member. Would definitely return

I want to start by saying as a child I had many fun times at this center. It was the only local place that was easy to ride a bike to and provided hours of entertainment. But, it would appear that the good old days are over. On a visit not too long ago with the kids(its been over a year), we went to a thing they have on Fridays called "Moonlight" bowling where you can win money based on colored pin combinations. Well I understand why they call it moonlight bowling, because all they do is turn off the lane lights. The aren't any colored lights or anything of the sort. Now I am not saying it needs to look like a disco, but how much are black lights these days? This dark setting creates the kind of enviroment for underage kids to sneek in and consume alcohol. The lanes were fine for me, I'm no regular bowler. The staff was excellent, a guy from behind the lanes (I think he works on the machines) was very helpful with helping my wife find a light ball, and the others were very polite also. My only complaint about staff was the two young employees responsible for witnessing the money winning shots that had, what looked to be, a sleeping newborn child in such a loud place. Since when are you allowed to take children to work? It would seem this company is cutting a lot of corners to stay alive. Although it is clear that this center has enough business to stay open, why not fix some things to attract new customers? Maybe the owners are happy with the amount of income the center produces to not care about its appearance. Either way, I will be returning my business in hopes that my money will be well spent. But, most likely they will fire the staff, hire new ones, and continue the same business model. If this lack of motivation to invest continues, this center will be nothing more than a memory. PS I wish they would do something with the building and parking lot.

place is looking up new ball returns and masking units

Let me just first start off by saying, NEVER AGAIN. Do Not take your kids bowling here. Not unless you want to be treated rudely, have them around dirt, and have them exposed to music with profanity. Woman behind food counter had her rearend exposed and gentleman behind counter didnt have a clue what he was doing. On top of lanes not working properly and just being rundown. I'll take my chances and go to Slocums or Curtis. Has to be better than this place. What a shame because I remember growing up and how nice it use to be there.

The other bowling center leased by Harvey Ely where all that stuff came from was Lodi Lanes and it is not out of business actually go see it, since Ely left the inside and outside has been redone and its great, all new AMF scoring, new oil machine, new seating and setees, carpets, new open bar area, great food, good attitide, new doors, new bathrooms.. Lodi Lanes is now a premier bowling center and leagues are happy with both the bowling and staff. With 40 lanes we can handle any tournament!

I think mentioning Bob Bucci in anything that involves Hamilton Lanes at this point is a disgrace to his legacy. He served the bowlers of Hamilton AND Mercer County with all of his heart and soul for 50+ years. I know he is rolling over in his grave right now after watching what has become of HIS center. "Bucc" was a great man and should always be remebered for what he did to make Hamilton Lanes a place that people came to bowl, meet new friends and have fun. What Harvey has let happen to this establishment is a disgrace to the memory of a great man.

Comment Date: 11/15/2011 Name: Mercer Tournament Bowler
Where do I begin? That is the main question here. I just bowled in Mercer County's biggest tournament (The 18th annual Delaware Valley Doubles Tournament) at Hamilton Lanes this past weekend and what a dreaded experience it was. This tournament takes place at 4 different area bowling centers and consists of 2 days of qualifying followed by the semi-finals and the finals the following weekend. Now, keep in mind; the only reason that Hamilton Lanes had the chance to host the 2nd qualifying day was because Colonial Lanes is currently being renovated and there is not another center large enough to host a tournament of this size in the immediate area. Upon arriving at the bowling center prior to my squad, it felt like I was pulling into a garbage dump but sadly it was the parking lot. Please use caution when driving to this center because the potholes in the parking lot could swallow small children and animals alike! The far left side of the building did in fact look like a garbage dump. There was a huge pile of scraps and garbage from what looked like the old masking units. How hard could it have been, to rent a small dumpster to rid yourself of such an eyesore? Unfortunately, the inside of the bowling center was not much better. It seems as if not much has changed here since the last time I had to bowl in a tournament at Hamilton Lanes several years ago. They still have the same filthy carpeting which has got to be well over 20 years old and I was amused by the mis-matched tables and chairs which were on the concourse area. The owners/management must have hit every auction or second hand store in the Tri-State area to pick up any and all tables/chairs they could find. One might ask, "well, why don't they upgrade this place after all these years?" Ahhh... they have been in the process of doing so. If you look down towards lanes 39 & 40, you would have seen that those lanes could not be used for tournament play because both lanes were covered with automatic scorers, tables, chairs etc.. All of which were used in the owner's other bowling center which is apparently out of business now. From what I was told, all that stuff has been laying out, covering lanes 39 & 40 for quite some time. Being that you are hosting the county's largest tournament which attracts several hundred people in one day, wouldn't you want to clean up a little bit in hopes of making a good impression? I suppose the management at Hamilton Lanes doesn't believe so. Now, as far as the tournament itself. Some people bowled well, some bowled terrible but overall; the scores were much lower than the previous day at another local center. As a bowler, what bothered me was the fact of how FILTHY the approaches and the settee area was. If you didn't use a wire brush for your slide foot on EVERY shot, you were in trouble! Not only did I step in gum while being in the settee area, but I also found a piece of a french frie and tons of dust/dirt on the bottom of my bowling shoe. I have been bowling for over 30 years and I am well aware that bowling balls come back with an oil track after throwing them down a lane. Although, at this tournament; the bowling balls were coming back filthy! Along with oil, I had several balls which came back with rubber belt marks all over them as well as a black sticky/gummy substance which was probably from the kickers on the wheel inside the machines. I'm certain that if the machines are taken care of, this does not occur so often! During the 5 games block in which we had to move 4 pairs to the right, games 3-5 took place on lanes in which the hand dryer did not work. Something like this was just par for the course! So, on top of the machines running extremely slow and witnessing countless breakdowns throughout the day, the entire bowling center was filthy dirty and just a complete eyesore! I pray that this tournament does not go back to Hamilton Lanes ever again! In fact, many of us think that "never again" would be too soon to host any meaningful tournaments. One positive note that I did see while bowling there was a banner which was hung on the wall in memory of the late great Mr. Bob Bucci who gave 30+ years of service to Hamilton Lanes years ago. Bob was a great man, a friend of mine and was an asset to Hamilton Lanes while being the manager there. Sadly, since his release from Hamilton Lanes and his passing; this once great bowling center has steadily declined to a point where most competitive bowlers dread going there. Hopefully this message finds its way to the owner of Hamilton Lanes and its management. Either sell the place to someone who knows the business and is willing to put some effort in or clean up the place and make some major renovations yourself! If I were you, I would be embarassed right now!

as far as i know i think $4.25 on fri nites after 6, and before 6 3.75. I sure hope its not closing!!! even if curtis and slocums are better. this place seems to have potential but needs to be taken care of much better than it is!!! You should still check on that 2.25 special each month; the last i remember they were having it certain days til 7 a few months back.

How much does it cost on a friday evening to bowl per person?

Terry how do you like your job at Hamilton lanes? Your used to going from lane to lane but I guess Harvey hasn't got the money to pay you what you deserve. Just watch your back he'll dump you when the time comes. I heard Hamilton lanes might be going out of business too.Tough section to run a bowling business but that's why he wants you there. He should put his son there.

Yes, we offer Saturday leagues - a division for all ages and abilities. Leagues start the Saturday after Labor Day, September 10th.

does hamilton still offer youth league bowling? if so when are signups and still bowl on saturday a.m.?

Comment Date: 4/27/2011 Name: Terry
FYI Alot of great specials, call us for current operating hours and hours for these specials. Our popular $2.25 special is being expanded, as is our $12 for two hours unlimited, including shoes. And summer league bowlers receive free open bowling all summer! New air conditioning unit also ordered and due to be installed before the end of May.

I decided to swing by today and much improved over the last visit. I guess i just happened to have a bad lane, and a not so good staff person the previous time. But today was better!! Good staff and service, lane was ok. They have a new special right now $2.25 from 12 to 7 on tues, weds, fri. right on!!! the place still could use a cleaning up inside and out (carpet is all bubbled up at entrance, floor is cracked up in spots, and they ought to clean up and paint the back of building facing 295- its real ugly) but they do have new overhead computer screen for half of the lanes. bathroom was ok. I noticed this time the alley is half synthetic, half wood. Synthetic heads, wood backends. Not a bad oil pattern. Overall i still like Curtis better, but right now hamilton is alright too!!

Comment Date: 11/19/2010 Name: LongTimeBolwerAtHamilton
Most of these comments about the condition are spot on. They don't up keep the lanes at all. Pins are dead and chiped. Balls come back with gouges in them all the time. My league signed a petion last year to the parent company and pretty much got blown off. Unfortunatly I'm stuck there since mens league (5 man) is a good one and nobody else around has one available the day I am free.

Comment Date: 6/15/2010 Name: sk8er
This place seems very poorly run. I wanted to try to bowl here , but its closed Mondays and tuesdays. Sometimes its only open for special groups but then immediately closes. Hardly any specials either except real late nite. ITs not only like this in summer but the school year too!! very inconvenient. this place is following the exact trail of Penn Bowl with ridiculously limited hours, alleys in shoddy working condition, less than clean, and exorbitant prices. its a wonder this is still open but for how much longer!!!Good thing for Hamilton that Curtis and Colonial aren't located much closer ( also both rather run down but still better than hamilton)

this is a good place to bowl at. workers are good with everybody.

Hamilton lanes is ok. but it also could do much better. bowled here last nite. i-295 is right behind it. it has 40 lanes. the prices, considering the overall condition of this place is outrageous!! $3.75 a game before 6 and 4.25 after that is INEXCUSABLE!! i ll tell ya why. the lanes are synthetic, thats good. but for some reason the top caps of the computers fall off. (very ghetto!!!) the dude at the counter was nice but the phone was constantly ringing and he kept letting it interrupt us when i was suppose to be waited on (the house was nearly empty and i could tell he was the only person working there). that is extremely annoying !!. so he kept having to go back in the office to answer it (regular phone AND his cell phone) when there was a phone right there!!! it wasnt anything important and took a little too long. as for the bowling, the pins were old and worn out (they flop down), at least a few years old. pin action however was fine, thanks to apparently well maintained side walls (bounce). the pinsetters are ok but i know why it takes forever for it to reset after almost every frame: they obviously dont have enough pins in each machine. ideally there should be 20 pins in each rack. 10 pins on the lane, while the others cycle around and refill into the carousel turret above the machine. this process should take no longer than a normal frame. There is NO excuse to have to wait 15 seconds for the machine to refill after making a single pin spare, or 20 seconds after a strike. and then charge such outrageous prices for bowling- there must've only been 12 pins in there if not less. NO EXCUSE for that!!! BUY SOME MORE PINS!!! theres even (donerite) which specializes in refurbished pins; google it!!! dont be so cheap. and how bout getting a website!!otherwise despite the few bugs, i like the place.

Comment Date: 1/9/2010 Name: sk8ersbus1
to inquiring mind: well, i dont think it even comes close to brunswick zones- the computer equipment is out of date compare to brunswick and the machinery( the way it runs) does not compare to brunswick zones (very good, the best). but the prices are the same (awful high). so i recommend u go to brunswick- its money better spent.

Comment Date: 1/4/2010 Name: inquiring mind
now since I read the good and the bad, how does Hamilton Lanes compare to Brunswick Zone? An opinion anyone?

Comment Date: 10/21/2009 Name: bowler
the good in this place lanes are always oiled before we bowl, beer prices are very good, and they added a 2.000.00 dollar sponsor to the lg. the bad to many machine problems.

Comment Date: 10/13/2009 Name: john t
i like this center for the most part, it does need new monitors and a rug. the new help around there is a big improvement. the prices are a little high except on days they have specials. place is kept very clean inside, but building is old and not so nice.

Comment Date: 10/8/2009 Name: not happy
i think that the owners of this lanes should come and see how dirty and badly run this blowing lanes are the whole places needs a face lift starting with mike the manager who is never there comes in for a hour then have the kids run and have to listen to all of the problems. this guy should be replaced. i liked to have the number of the company of this place so i can give them a pcs of my mind. teh food is over price and not enough of it. the lanes are dirty sticky and not well maintain. putting money into bar instead of the lanes that make you money.

I have been bowling at Hamilton Lanes in the Senior League for ten years. I never bowled seriously until I came here. I love the place and the fine group of guys and gals that bowl here. I never bowl anywhere else. I think they keep the lanes in good condition and whenever there is a problme they hastily repair the same. The help has always been friendly and courteous to me. I intend to continue bowling here as long a I can. Keepem rolling.

I like the hamilton lanes just fine! besides, look at all the other alleys around... cutis, colonial? they are pretty disgusting on the inside. I think Hamilton does a fine job. No house is gonna look like slocums though... they only have like 15 lanes. Give em more credit. Plus, its cheaper to have a ball drilled there.

I'd like to take the time to thank "P.A." for their kind words. I am not sure if I know you personally, but, they are certainly appreciated. There have also been derogatory comments made against my family & myself. I would appreciate the comments ceasing, unless the individual who posted would stop hiding behind their computer screen and say it to my face. I have no problem with anyone not liking me, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But, what I do not appreciate is comments being stated about myself & my family in a nasty way behind our backs. I’d also love to hear while you feel my mother & I have no talent whatsoever. I guess she’s in the hall of fame for no reason and I average 214 “just because”. Therefore, please feel free to state what you’d like, as long as you show your face.

Hi, "Hamilton is no good", Why is it that you feel they have no talent at all? What is your average?

Comment Date: 11/2/2008 Name: P.A.
I was never a league bowler at Hamilton Lanes but have bowled in countless tournaments there throughout the many years in which I have been bowling in Mercer County. Years ago Hamilton Lanes was one of the better houses in the area with many great bowlers and competitive leagues. It is unfortunate to see the drastic decline in this center in recent years. I will say that the name Bob Bucci was and will always be synonymous with Hamilton Lanes. It is a great shame that this man is no longer the manager of Hamilton Lanes. I will add that I am neither a family member nor very close friend of Bob but I have seen what he has done for Hamilton Lanes and the sport of bowling in Mercer County for all these years. Mr. Bucci will always be remembered as one of the classiest and well respected bowling center managers Mercer County has ever seen. Bob has dedicated his life to the sport of bowling while helping many bowlers and organizing some of the best tournaments Mercer County has ever seen. My hat goes off to Bob Bucci and to the ownership of Hamilton Lanes, shame on you for losing such a great man!

Yeah...please...lets bring back bob so that his daughter and grand daughter can run the place again and think they are gods...its so horrible when you grow up in a bowling alley and you have no talent at all...give me a break...i remember when this place used to be a good place to go...id rather bowl at colonial or slocums

We(group of four)just played two games ea. plus shoes @ $50. Nice clean house. No Smoking :-). Pleasant, helpful staff. Only one draw back WE felt , $3.50 for a shoe rental seemed steep to us. You can rent roller skates @ most places for $2.00 or $2.50. Skates are much more involved than bowling shoes.

This place is great. The place just got a brand new kegel oil machine, redid the tiles and ceiling, got a new paint job, and looks alot better. The person at the desk on the tuesday night I was there was so friendly, and very helpful as he took care of everything we needed. I have also been in during the day and the manager of the place was extremely friendly. This place has changed so much for the better. I rate it as 5 stars.

Bad oil patterns is not the fault of the workers at these lanes-the oil machine that is used is old and out of date, and a new one may or may not be on its way (depending on the ownership, otherwise the regulars are friendly and the other workers are great!

Very poor house to bowl at. Old computer systems that are on the fritz most of the time. None of the computer technology is up to date to any of the local houses. The lanes never work properly always causing long delays for games. This house can never keep a consistent oil pattern for league play. Players bowl alot of bad games here do to overall conditions
