Bowl Long Island is NOT what it used to be. I came back to bowling in the middle of the '09 season and bowled at Bowl LI because it's conveniently located for me. It was NOT the dungeon I remembered from years past. I find all the staff, not just Chris and Rob, to be friendly, informed and knowledgeable. The food is standard bowling center fare but with a couple surprises, such as fresh salads. The prices are not bad for bowling centers, either. The best way to discover the truth for yourself is to stop in and see for yourself. Talk to the staff, stop in and talk with the pro shop guys, the mechanics, wait staff and desk persons. Oh, for the person who complained about the men's room, it's a little small for some of the events they've run but it is clean! And no, I don't work for Bowl LI and I'm not family...lol.

Just to set the record straight there is a rumor going around that Bowl Long Island is closing. I am here to tell you that is not true and it's very sad that a company like AMF who continues to lose customers to us on a daily basis would say such untruthfull stories. Myself and Chris Keller will be here for many years to come and will always treat all of our customers like they are our family. Thanks to our customers and our friends for the support you have givin us in these first 3 years its been alot of fun. Rob Eggert

glad to hear the parking lot is getting done. I bowled a tournament there in January and didn't know there was a huge hole when I was walking with my balls, tripped and fell, broke a wheel off my bag ( it got stuck in the hole) and bruised my ankle, couldn't bowl league for 2 weeks. Glad to hear it's finally being fixed!!!

On Monday night, April 6th, Ray Edwards bowled games of 300-299-300 for an incredible 899 series! He left a ten pin in game two, and bowled the series at Bowl Long Island at Patchogue, on lanes 11 & 12. It is the highest series ever on Long Island, and the first 899 in New York State. Congratulations Ray !!!

Dear League Bowler...we apologize if you had a bad experience in our men's room. We strive to give you the best experience possible in our center. Both bathrooms as well as the parking lot will be updated this summer and ready for the new fall season. Thank you for bowling at Bowl Long Island.

I was there this year and it was really good, it was a full house. I was also there last year. There was a great variety of food, and I also enjoyed the wings and sausage & peppers this year! The new place was decorated nicely and everyone had hats and noise makers. The music was better than before and me and my friends had a great time. We ended the nite with coffee and a dessert table and a toast for the new year (the kids had a apple cider toast) It was $35 for adults and $20 for the kids. My friends & I are definitely coming back next year and we hope to have an even bigger group. I hope I helped you out. Ken

I was wondering how the new years eve pary went this year. I normally attend every year for probably the last 6 or 7 years and this year we went away with the kids. I've always enjoyed it in the past, the food was great and very well decorated for the bringing in of the new year ( I can't believe someone said a wider range of food, they always had a large choice of food for all, for adults and kids.) My favorite were the wings and sausage and peppers. If anyone could tell me how it was so i know for next year, that would be great. Also, approx what was the price and was it full or not. Thanks

all those leaving negative comments, lighten up! why would the new owners be mean to ppl who've always bowled there? they're trying to make everyone's bowling experience a good one! hell they wouldnt spend all that money on the alley and then be rude to you! maybe its all in your heads! give the new ppl a chance! to me the real test to see how the new owners are and all that is new years eve bowling- dealing with everyone at the same time, kids running around all over the place, if technical probs arise with the lanes, food and music variety etc. it'll be interesting to see how everything will be handled and if it will be the same as its always been or if we'll finally see some differences, such as more 21st century music playing instead of 80% 70s and 20% everything else and if we'll have a bigger variety of food to choose from. either way it'l be a blast im sure as its always been!

Theres no way your a patchogue resident because you would know that this bowling alley is the best thing to happen to patchogue for a very long time. But you see I'm a resident of patchogue and i've been to the bowling alley with my son and the place looks very nice and the people working there are so friendly and helpfull. The two owners were in the buliding just like the last time i was there and went out of their way to say hello not only to me but to everyone around us. I don't think your a resident maybe someone who has had a bad day or is talking about another bowling alley but Everyone should come here its great and you feel good while your here. Thanks to the owners of the new patchogue bowl you saved our only place in patchogue we can go to and have fun!! It would have been very sad to see it knocked down. Keep up the great work you guys are doing the town can't talk about it enough!!

Comment Date: 9/27/2008 Name: Anonymous
This bowling center is awsome!! The whole town is talking about how nice it is. To the owners thanks for doing this you guys rock!!

I don't know where you guys went, but it sure wasn't this new "Bowl Long Island" center...the owners and workers couldn't be nicer to me and the place has a total family atmosphere. It is now the best place to bowl on Long Island hands down. Maybe it was your attitude...because they sure seen nice to all my friends and me.

Patchogue Resident - I thought I was the only one that had the feeling of the new owners being stuck up. I was very uncomfortable and felt like I should not have been there and was not wanted. Glad to know it wasn't just maybe. Maybe they are not as friendly to everyone or just having a bad day, anyway made me re-think bowling there, have to say, haven't been back since.

Comment Date: 9/14/2008 Name: LIBowler
The place looks absolutely fabulous. They really made a great face left inside the bowling alley. I met the new owners and they are really nice people. Keep up the great work guys.

Comment Date: 9/12/2008 Name: Proud Momma
I am glad that I kept my children at the bowling alley for the leagues. Yes, it was getting old and a bit dingy looking but perserverance paid off and look how wonderful an alley it is now. Keeping the former staff was a wonderful way to break the changes in. Thank goodness it isn't another closed and boarded up building in Patchogue. I am sure business will begin to grow and open lanes will be hard to get. As for the new owners they seem very dedicated...as for the George and his family, they kept the alley working and open. Even if you only came once, if you smiled, laughed or just hung out with a friend, you did it there. Think about it....Who are we to judge anyone else!

Comment Date: 9/10/2008 Name: Patchogue resident
I am not getting a real friendly feeling from the new "Bowl LI" The old owners were always friendly. I hope things are different when I bowl on my Mens League. I hate feeling like I am not welcome in a place. I sense stuck up attitudes and I am not impressed. Hope this situation changes, or I may be finding a new place to bowl.

Comment Date: 9/4/2008 Name: Old & New Bowler
I don't see where anything was said bad about the old owners at all. George and Jackie were great and the new owners are great as well. The place just looks SUPER now and I am glad to see it!! I think the comments below are from people who don't even know the new owners or are from their competition. The new owners are nice guys and the place looks better than any other bowling place on Long Island. See for yourself...

the owners there seem relly nice i don't know enough about george or jackie to comment but i met Rob the other day and he was more than nice to me and all of my fellow bowlers. The place looks very nice and well kept. Maybe the person or persons talking bad about the owners are just some jelous people. Keep up the great work rob its really nice here now. i'll see ya next week!

The new place is nice but the new owner is a {deleted}. Look at him. I heard some bad things about him.. The old owners were ten times better they probably just didnt have the money to fix the place. Plus I heard the landlords were a**h*les. I hope the place burns down and I tell everyone not to go there. Those were some rude comments about George and jackie cause any time I was there he was working or helping someone In that place so u got it all wrong.

I am shocked to hear your comments about the new owner of Bowl Long Island in Patchogue! I have bowled there for many years and the place has never looked so good! The new owners are friendly and the entire staff is helpful. People just have to learn to appreciate a "good thing" and that's what this is.

Comment Date: 9/3/2008 Name: old bowler
anonymous and friend must have taken there hate an ugly pills on sept.third.the center became available an the new owners bought it.they can't be to bad,if some of the nite leagues have tripled in size.the old staff is still there and seemto be happy. you people should get a new sourse for your information.why not knock the chip off your shoulder and in joy the center. iknow a lot of people will''kudos to the owners.

Comment Date: 9/2/2008 Name: past bowler
i'm surprised to hear anyone say anything about george or jackie, you obviously weren't in the place during the day at all. I can say George worked tremendous hours there, during the day he made sure things were being done and at night he worked the pro shop where his employees worked as they were hired to do. As for Jackie, she worked the day doing all the book-keeping and finances among other things that pertained to the center, so whoever you are that made those remarks obviously didn't know much as to what was going on in the place.

Comment Date: 8/29/2008 Name: Bowler
Nice to see "Bowlers Tape Guy" Chris Keller putting a lot into the place. Hope he gets it returned in revenue. 3 years from now we should look back and see if it was "worth it".

Oh my goodness! Have you all seen this place!? I went in the other day and could not believe the transformations I saw! New lanes, new flooring, huge flat screen Tvs, the bar is expanded, the pro shop is opening soon, etc etc. I also heard that they will be remodeling the snack bar, bar, everything! The front of the building is really sharp too! They are in the process of painting too! This place really added class to Patchogue...it was in need. The new owner is awesome and wants to keep it a family style business. Great job and everyone should go check this place out!!!! xo

I recently passed by and observed all the renovations taking place. I can't believe how much they have done so far. The place looks like it has come a long way already. Kudos to the new owners. Can't wait until it is all finished. Wonder what new leagues will be brought in. Just have to wait and see.

I guess you haven't been there since the new owners took over! This place is incredible now...new, clean...and wow what a difference! It all will be complete for the new leagues in Sept...you should check it out. NICE!

Just wanted to say I practiced on the new lanes today, and they weren't that bad. I think I might actually like them, lol... And as for Anthony, they are totally renovating the place. They just redid lanes 1-20 from wood to synthetic, and are now working on 21-40. The place is really coming around nicely, you should really check it out.

Comment Date: 7/16/2008 Name: Anonymous
There is new management now, socking a lot of money into the place. Should be "THE PLACE TO BOWL" when they are done. Saw craigs list add for free pin decks. They took out the old wood and replacing with synthetics. Should look great when done.

I don't know what Anthony is talking about (maybe he works for The crapy AMF center in sayville) but I was just there and the one whole side is done and people will be bowling on the new lanes this week!! I can't wait to go bowl there and all the other stuff they did already is just awsome so far. If you bowled here then you know it was not the greatest place to bowl becouse it was old but the people here in the center are nice and the owner is here all the time from what i hear which will also make this place great to come to again. I came on Sunday nite and it was 1 dollar to bowl a game here!! I saw that it's also done on Monday and Tuesday nites too!So anthony stay away from patchogue becouse our new bowling center doesn't need you we'll be just fine. Keep up the great work guys at patchogue i'll be back!!!

Comment Date: 7/14/2008 Name: Anthony W
This place is falling apart and the prices they charge for a rundown center is not worth it. I only went because we live nearby and I will never return to this place. I rather travel an extra 20 minutes to another center where things are much cleaner

Emily, thanks for your comments and concerns. The wood approaches are going to stay. As a matter of fact, after the installation is complete on each side of the house, the approaches will be injected and refinished. I'm not sure if you were expecting synthetic approaches also, but ownswership has elected to stay with wood at this point in time. I'm not sure if you were expecting synthetic approaches. If you are stuggling on the new lanes, please feel free to ask our Pro Shop staff. Our new Pro Shop Operator is a PBA Regional Touring Professional, with coaching certification. I'm sure he'll be more than happy to help you out. Just so everyone knows, we are open during renovations. We have $1 games from 5pm-close on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays. The installation of the new lanes began yesterday. The crew is starting on 1-20, so we still have 10 lanes of bumper bowling available. Once the renovation is complete, we will have 40 lanes of bumper bowling available. We encourage our loyal customers and friends to come down and check out the renovations. Additional lighting has been added, the ceiling has been redone, and not to mention a state of the art security system to ensure staff and customer safety. Again, we are open during renovations. Come and visit soon! -Insider

Hi. As I previously mentioned on another post a few years ago (somehow came up anonymous though), I really like the wooden lanes, and Patchogue Bowl in general. As much as I'm going to miss Jackie and George, I can totally understand their reasonings, and from what I hear the landlord wasn't giving them much of a choice. They were only offering year to year lease, and nearly doubled the rent, from what I was told. I understand that both George and Jackie were reaching retirement age anyway, but it's a shame it couldn't stay in the family. I would have liked to see Diana take it over, or even Joe and Trish. However, I have met the new owner Rob and have had several conversations with him. I have no doubt in my mind that he will do a great job fixing it up. The only thing I don't like is that he's switching to synthetic, but George said he was going to switch very soon also, if he kept the lanes, and that the wood would have to be replaced soon, which costs more than putting in the synthetics. So really, that has nothing to do with the new ownership, that was going to happen regardless. I guess within time I'll grow to appreciate them. Right now my few experiences on synthetic, I didn't like them. The whole approach to me felt different and I wasn't comfortable on them. I'm going to enjoy the last month or so we have left on the wooden before the first half is switched over, and I am also looking to hopefully get a new high game on the wooden before it's a thing of the past, possibly even a 300. A 300 on wood would mean so much more to me than the synthetic lanes, in which even though I know in the beginning my average will go down until I feel comfortable on the lanes, in the long run my average will skyrocket. Synthetics are too easy and don't offer the same challenge. However, other than my opposing to synthetics, I have total confidence in Rob, that "Bowl LI" won't be much different than Patchogue as far as the family feel and such. I already feel like I've known him for years. I think it will be great to finally get in new equipment and scoring machines (ones you can actually read), and new ball returns that can hold more than 1 ball per bowler, as well as all the other necessary repairs being done (ceiling, parking lot, etc.) Also, from what I've been told, most of the staff are staying on, at least for the summer, so that makes for a great transition. Trish, Joe, Roberta, Cheryl, all still work there. As I said, it's a shame it couldn't stay in the family, but I'm also very happy to see it stay open. Asides the people that work there, my fellow league members are an extended family to me. If they were to close down, I know some of us would keep in touch, but I also know most of us will go our seperate ways. I love Patchogue, and unless I'm extremely unhappy with the changes Rob makes, I'm looking foward to bowling there for years to come. I hope to be able to take my future children, and even grandchildren there, and continue on the bowling legacy.

I think every bowler will be impressed with the new look of Bowl Long Island at Patchogue. June 24th is the date where 1-20 will begin Phase I. New masking units, synthetic lanes, and resurfaced approaches. Over the next several months you will see new furniture, new house balls and rental shoes, new lockers, 40 lanes of bumpers, new settee flooring...it's going to be awesome. Check out our trailer at the Sea Fair this weekend for our flyer containing a free game pass, valid for use once our transformation to synthetic lanes is complete.

That is totally not true. I know the new owners and they are not going to use any "AMF business model" or any business model but their own. In two years this will be one of the best bowling centers on Long Island. Wait & see. They are league focused and are going to make the place beautiful for everyone. I think a competitive center posted this total lie. This WILL be the place to BOWL for everyone, mark my word!

Comment Date: 5/2/2008 Name: Bowler from Long Island
I've been there bowling the last few weeks in a league there and what the last person wrote on this website is untrue. The new people that are coming in are not using anything from AMF except for buying new AMF equipment. One of the new owners has been there 2 weeks in a row the night I bowl and has said it's going to be run like a family owned bussiness and he said he wants as many league bowlers as he can get. He said he will not operate like How AMF Sayville did when they threw out leagues for open bowlers. I can't wait to see what they do to the place. I do like Jackie and George but I think it's time for a change and it looks like a good one for Patchogue! I'll be back for sure.

Comment Date: 5/1/2008 Name: Anonymous
They are going to kill this place from what I've heard, a friend was telling me they're going to use the new AMF buisiness model of being unfriendly to leagues and concentrating on open bowlers. Well that's just great. AMF and the people who are copying them are going to ruin bowling for serious bowlers.

Comment Date: 4/1/2008 Name: Anonomys
Well, truth be told, recently the landlords didn't offer more than a year to year leases, wouldn't fix the roof, the pipes, etc. in essence trying to force the owners out ... had a supposed sweet monetary deal with town or village or something like that... well he got his way george and jackie were out ... LOL town deal fell through and now suddenly faced with having to cover tax bill of $125,000.00 as well as other costs was willing to deal to fix the building. now someone else is coming in with investors to save his ***. It's a shame he didn't deal straight up with george and jackie or dianna in the first place...

Comment Date: 3/20/2008 Name: bowler
There will be new owners in June that are totally remodeling the center! The new owners are going to be putting in new lanes, new scoring, new ball returns and new furniture before the new season. I heard they also plan to change the look inside & out. I can't wait...finally a really great place to bowl in Patchogue! Good luck to the new guys and thanks to George & Jackie.

Comment Date: 3/14/2008 Name: anonymous
Must say I'm sad to hear the place is closing. I now understand why not much has been done to the place in the last couple of years. They did not own the building, and from what I understand the landlord never dropped a dime into the building, inside or out, or trying to fix the parking lot. I would think that's the resposibility of the landlord. Sad to see the place close, good luck to jackie and george and the rest of the staff.

Well to explain why they are not spending money is easy. They are not renewing their lease in 2009. A birdie has told me that the center will be closing. I am not sure it is true. If they were staying open, would it not be better to keep up with the Jone's? I think George and Jackie can retire now and be happy. Lets face it, George must be at least 75 0r eighty, and Jackie who has always looked older then him, must be getting close to 80. Well I wish them luck.

Patchouge Bowling Center could use some work but I like, I love to bowl there and I was reading the other comments and I disagree with a lot of them the staff is very nice and if there not you must have done something to upset them but as I was saying I like the bowling and I like the fact that it's not as crowded as some other pplaces but again it can use some work not alot just some :D

i go there all the time. They need to fix there bathrooms. They are distgusting. And they need to repaint the booths that we sit in 'cause the paint is chipping off. Well i like it for some odd reason. The lanes could be better but i understand if they don't have money to that!!

i have alwasy gone to patchogue lanes and every year the staff gets grumpier and cant even talk to kids. i called them to ask about the prices and the lady gave me an attitude because i didnt hear her the first time and her greeting wasn't even pleasant! so now i go to a different bowling alley where the staff is nicer and is way less cheaper. who would spend $5 dollars on 1 game! you gotta be kidding me! they really need to improve if they want better buisness.

It's kind of dirty, but it's not as crowded. The lady behind the counter is incredibly mean. >.<

The lanes are old warped wood! The poor kids watch their ball go straight until it hits the warp and then go the wrong way! It happens on all the lanes there with all the kids. The adults have the strenght to get past the warps but not the kids.

the price of a game are way too expensive since nothing at patchogue bowling are good. i would suggest that the game prices be lowered. TOO EXPENSIVE FOR PATCHOGUE!! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

you should think about getting a better staff that can communicate with the kids instead of being grumpy and yelling at them. they need a better attitude.

With all the money you spend in there, they should at least fix the bathrooms. It's trashy. The only reason I take my kids is bacause it's not as crowded as the other bowling allies. That's because it's just plain dirty. The woman behind the counters yells at everyone's kids, she is rude. How do you yell at other people's chidren? She hasn't yelled at mine yet, surprise, surprise. Don't waste your time.

I and my family have been bowling at the Patchogue Bowling Center for a long time. The whole family belongs to a couple of leagues there. I have never had a problem with the staff there. I have watched them in action with disruptive individuals and they have always handled themselved in a professional manner. Teens are encouraged to bowl there. The local high school calls those lanes home. The wooden lanes are a challenge to bowl on but they get you ready for just about any other house on Long Island. They have been working on the lighting and it is much improved. Both the food and bar service is good. Food is pretty much standard fare but they will listen to you if you need something made a little differently.

I've been bowling on leagues there since I was little, for the last 15 or so years... I think the place could use some fixing up, but I love the people there, and couldnt picture myself anywhere else... I also love the challenge of the old-fashioned wooden lanes, I believe synthetic are too easy... I think whats going to eventually pull me away from these lanes are that most of the leagues the teams have dropped in half, making for less competiton... I dont like that..

Just went there today and I would not go there again if it was the last bowling alley on Earth. Save your money.

For the amount of money that I pay I suggest you make the place a little more nice and not so dirty!!
